- HTHenry Thompson1 day ago5.0If you know me, you know I frequent auto parts stores. Despite possessing largely comparable inventories, not all auto parts stores are created equal. What sets them apart the most is their staff. At this Advanced Auto Parts store, there are two people who stand out and made my experience possible. I was leaving for work, and my car would not start. A friend drove me to this store, and I was their first customer of the day. Mike helped me find my parts, gave me valuable insight, and did not waste a minute of my time. Later that day, I returned in my car, which was now running. However, when it rains, it pours, and now my door would not open. I went in, and Mike waved me over and asked me how my car was doing. I told him what was going on with my car, so he and Daniel (another employee) graciously took a look at my door and gave me ideas on what to do next. It was because of their knowledge, passion for customer service, speed, and Mike’s natural leadership ability that I had a hassle-free do-it-yourself car repair experience. Now, not everyone will be as lucky as I was to get their repairs done without any major setbacks. I myself am often so unlucky, but I can say that Mike curates an excellent customer service experience and that when the time for repairs comes, he is the person I want to work with.

Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
