- CCChrisFeb 10, 20263.0Service wasn't bad and employees are friendly, however, be aware of their battery, alternator, and starter testing machines. I had issues with my Lexus starting before a doctor's appointment on 2-4. Went to Advance Auto after my appointment, told them what was going on, they agreed to test battery, alternator, and starter. When they lifted up the battery covers, there was some corrosion and they cleaned it, once they cleaned it, tested all 3 and they tried to claim that I needed a new alternator. Keep in mind, my Lexus barely has 105K miles on it and it's 10 years old. So, at first, I told the worker that I'll just go to Hendrick and get a new alternator since I mostly use factory/manufacturer parts. I call Hendrick and they schedule it, I show up to my appointment at Hendrick and even the Service Advisor was confused by what Advance Auto Parts said, and they agreed to start from the beginning. They test my battery and all I needed was a new battery and my alternator was fine. Just beware when you get your battery, alternator, or starter tested here. Pics for proof.

Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
