- DMD MetcalfSep 23, 20161.0tried to buy a new gas cap for my car, it was throwing evap codes and the gas cap is the simplest fix. They have the cap, asked if they could reset the code so I can test to see if that had fixed my problem, was told they aren't allowed to reset codes even though they check the codes for customers. Where is the harm? If they reset it and it doesn't come back then the gas cap worked, if not I have some other problem and the light will come back anyway. So...didn't buy gas cap, lost my business, going elsewhere

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
