My family and I came to charge our EV truck, And I went inside and bought $31 worth of breakfast foods to heat up in the microwave. The guy at the register was super kind. After I paid, I went to heat up the foods in the microwave. While waiting for the food to cook, I found some donuts and decided to purchase those too . When I went back up to the counter, there was an older blonde lady with glasses, and she accused me of stealing all the breakfast foods. When I told her I could show her my bank and that I had already paid for the other food She embarrassed me in front of everybody in line at the store. She yelled across at all the people working there and said “ HEY DID YOU CASH HER OUT”. She refused to Believe what I was telling her. All the other workers said no. It was so embarrassing. In front of everyone. To be accused of stealing all that food!! I told her the man that took my money is not here(he went outside), but I could show her my bank. She then said “oh yeah, Joe was here. Just go”. I left in shock. Of course she accuses and embarrasses the only Indigenous women in the store. Not the first time or last time I have experienced racism like that. We will never be back. I was just trying to feed my family on the way to Yellowstone. When I got back out to the car my husband was furious. We entered back into the store to attempt to show the older blonde lady with glasses my bank card, but she was busy. We tried to show a younger gal At the register and she said “it’s ok I promise it’s ok” as if she knew that lady was wrong and I didn’t need to prove myself. It was awful.
