I was initially going to leave a positive review, but after a series of consistent issues during the purchase of my truck, I feel compelled to share my experience — something I have already communicated directly to the financial manager.
Thomas, Cedric, and their supervisors failed to provide the level of customer service that should be expected from any dealership. I had arranged a pickup over the phone, which should have been a simple walk-in, walk-out process. Instead, it turned into a 3-hour ordeal with one problem after another — incorrect pricing, my credit being run multiple times on multiple days, and a promised full tank of gas that was never honored.
Thankfully, I came prepared with my own financing, because the dealership had nothing ready on their end. The only person who did their job professionally was Dustin — everyone else left me deeply disappointed.
This is not the experience I expected after making my way from Texas to purchase a $62,000 truck. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements for future customers.

My experience with Toyota Principle of Hernando was great! Ray McNealy was very knowledgeable, thorough, and patient with helping pick the best vehicle that suited my specific needs. He’s also very professional and friendly. I will definitely recommend him to my friends and family who are looking to buy a new car.

Lincoln was amazing to work with! He was very informative, patient, and made the entire car buying process smooth and stress-free. My brother took his 2024 Toyota 4Runner to Principle Toyota for an oil and filter change. (Mon, April 20, 2026; he bought this SUV FROM Principle back in 12/2025) Within a few hours, I glanced at my email and saw an INVOICE from this dealer. It added tire rotation. Neither me nor my brother even got a phone call, asking to rotate the tires. Further, I went there to pay the invoice. I know very little about the routine maintenance costs, but I know what is right and ethical! (accounting degree)
After my brother got off work, his boss dropped him off to get his vehicle.
The total cost was incredibly high. However, the service manager, Andrew, made things whole and in alignment with the oil and filter change special as opposed to $176.50. I had a meeting with Andrew to share the facts with and to him. Since that occurrence, Andrew has implemented process and continuous improvement so that this did not happen again.
Good advice: ensure that what this dealer will charge you and ALWAYS ensure that the number(s) they have on file is valid. Two action items for the dealership: ensure it is quantified and qualified!
Two years ago, I left Hernando Toyota a pretty rough review. Things were very different back then. But that’s history — because today, this place has done a complete 180. With new management and an all-new team in every department — service, parts, sales, and finance — the turnaround is nothing short of impressive.
I’ve spent over 20 years in the military, building and training teams, including time as a drill instructor. I know what a great team looks like — and this one is first-class. Gary in sales is as honest as they come, Andrew H in service won’t rest until things are right, and Matt — the wizard behind the curtain — keeps everything running on all cylinders.
My only suggestion would be a little cross-training between sales and finance so the sales team is better equipped to explain warranty and service package options. I bought both and was hesitant at first, but the value speaks for itself.
This is the first car I’ve purchased from Hernando Toyota, and it won’t be the last. In 2023, I bought two vehicles elsewhere and even sent my neighbor somewhere else because of past experiences — but those days are gone.
To my fellow Hernando residents — this is the team you want to work with. The car I bought is for my son, who’ll be starting high school next year, and I have no doubt it’ll carry him through college and beyond.
Five stars, hands down. I’m proud to see this crew setting a new standard for customer service right here at home.
