- CWChristina Wade3 days ago5.0I went in the store and Nathan R assisted me with my battery purchase and new starter. This isn’t the first time that he has helped me with my purchases. He is always polite, knowledgeable, and very professional. He does a wonderful job and I will definitely be back.

The staff were helpful, if not a little overwhelmed, and the battery installation went relatively smoothly. I didn't get the employee's name, but he said he'd only worked there a couple of weeks. He was very friendly, but I didn't appreciate that when he told a brief story about how a vehicle of his had gotten totaled, he referred to the driver at-fault as "someone who probably didn't belong in this country." Those kind of ideals are unbelievable and that kind of racism incredibly inappropriate, among other things. I can't imagine Advance Auto would be proud to know their image is being held up by people with such gross opinions of other human beings.

Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
