**update- 2/25/26 worst place to go to get your car fixed, the part that needed to be fixed on my truck was the same part my husband said it was when he took it in to be fixed the neutral safety switch, these techs didn’t care and didn’t listen repeatedly said no that’s not it got us to spend $800 on a starter, told us to cycle through the gears , we brought it back multiple times for them to look at and check over and they didn’t do their jobs at all, we just got the check done at autozone and it was confirmed of it being the neutral safety switch the whole time. So you can have your vehicle here do multiple days, being it back numerous times and you will leave with false information and you can tell they don’t care enough to actually look into the issue. So much time wasted and a ridiculous amount of money spent just for it to be the first thing my husband told them it was this entire time. It is so disheartening that you pay people to look after and fix and issue your having and you give them the answer and all they do is what they want and ignore you. Wouldn’t look into fixing the issue but can ask how much we’d sell the truck for is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable don’t bring your car truck suv anything here because you’ll get more stress than you bargained for.**
*original 1 week ago*I have never been so out right dissatisfied and disappointed with services than when here. My husband has taken our truck in for the second time not with in a week and the issue isn’t fixed. Being told our starter was the problem we got our truck in on a Friday got it back Saturday it ran for a day and wouldn’t start back up on Monday. They wouldn’t service it Monday because they closed at 5 so I had to get a Lyft to work the next day just for the tech to say “it started just fine for me I just cycled through the gears and it started up” so clearly it’s not fixed! they had already said that something was knocking from the starter making it not start because it knocked something else out of place, if it’s doing that then something isn’t right it should be fixed! And now for a third time as of today my truck will not start. I have cycled through the gears, I’ve tried a multitude of ways to get this truck to start and it will not. I now have to order another tow truck to come and pick up my vehicle so I can get home. I have never had such unreliable, untrustworthy service on a vehicle before in my life, what was the point of me paying for a service if you can’t guarantee to fix the problem? Cycling through gears should have never been the solution to a problem. If you couldn’t fix it why didn’t you get someone else from a different car rx? Why didnt you get a different tech to look at it? There had to be multiple ways, to find a solution to a problem that you were paid to fix. You said it was the starter clearly it’s not if you see it’s bumping into something why not find a way to keep that from happening? You’d rather send someone home with a problem than to find a way to fix it because it doesn’t affect you or your company because you already got paid! If I even bother to have to taken back is it going to be fixed? Probably not because it’s clear they don’t care, they didn’t care the first time, the didn’t care the second time. What’s gonna change this time? You know as good as I do probably nothing.

On December 22, 2025 I took my car into Car-X on South Kingshighway for a routine safety inspection. My car was running fine and not making any unusual noises. The failed safety inspection report I received from Car-X claimed I needed: 1. front and rear brake pads and rotors, 2. both steering lower control arms ("badly bent or broken") and 3. both front tires ("tread design is excessively worn"). The Car-X manager Lee quoted me a total repair price of over $3000 dollars. I told him I looked at my tires before I took the car in, and the thread looked just fine. He said they were worn on the inner rim of the tire which was not visible. On the phone he misled me to believe I also needed both rear tires due to dry rot, because they were made in 2019. My rear tires looked and felt normal, showing no sign of dryness, hardening or brittleness. On 12-29-25 I took my car to Missouri Highway Patrol Troop C headquarters and asked for a verification of these alledged conditions. A patrol officer inspected my car and found that all of these claims were invalid. In other words, my tires were NOT worn excessively, the control arms were NOT badly bent or broken, and I did NOT need new brake pads and rotors. The officer gave me a signed form to take back to Car-X and I would receive a passing inspection report. When I returned to Car-X, manager Lee spoke to me in a rude and aggressive tone of voice when I politely asked him for an explanation. He would not acknowledge the errors and did not give me any sort of an explanation. I asked him who he expected me to believe, him or the Highway Patrol? I am a 74-year-old senior citizen on a fixed income and cannot afford $3000 dollars of unnecessary car repair costs. I believe that manager Lee was taking advantage of me because it was only a few days before the end of the month deadline, thinking I would get the repairs done right away without question. I can understand someone making a mistake now and then, but all three MAJOR false inspection findings such as this indicate to me an intentional and systemic pattern of maximizing profits over basic honesty and integrity which the customer expects and deserves. Because I was not given any explanation and because I was treated badly, I have filed a formal complaint to the Missouri Highway Patrol, which oversees and licenses safety inspection stations. I felt I was being scammed. It is my understanding that the state regulations governing how inspections are to be performed are objective and non-ambiguous, involving clear and precise measurements and observations. To add insult to injury, as I was walking out of the shop, Lee facetiously told me to "Have a great day". I told him I was not having a great day because he was rude to me. In fact, I was having a great day because I had the courage to take action which saved me $3000 in unnecessary car repairs. I encourage anyone reading this review to learn from my experience. I will put the X on Car-X.
