- MCMark ChristianDec 31, 20251.0I used Dobbs in Lake Saint Louis for years, so I thought I would try them in Jeff City for an oil change and a diagnostic. The blower motor was intermittent—sometimes working, sometimes not. I was charged $315 for the oil change and diagnostic. They replaced a fuse and said it was fixed. It wasn't fixed. Now they want another $225-250 to replace the blower motor. A proper diagnostic should have caught this the first time—checking power at the motor, testing the connector, and verifying the actual failure before replacing parts. Instead, they guessed, it didn't work, and now I'm expected to pay again. If you're going to charge $200 ($189 plus tax) for a diagnostic, it should actually identify the problem. I would have expected some of that fee to apply toward the repair, but that wasn't offered. Disappointed with how this was handled. An oil change and blower motor shouldnt cost 500 plus. For reference: A fuse costs $2 A blower motor runs $60–80 An oil change is $30–50 in materials

They gave him a full synthetic oil without asking (we've never requested this before) and charged him over $100. When he asked why it was so expensive they gave him $11 off. We will not be back.

They made the typical recommendations most shops suggest, but some of what they told me was concerning. First, they claimed my vehicle needed a new serpentine belt, even though the belt was practically new—only a couple of months old. They also recommended a power steering flush, but my vehicle has electric power steering, which doesn’t even have fluid to do a flush service on as it a all in one contained unit. On top of that, they mis-ordered parts for me, which only added more frustration and delays.

What really stood out was how honest he was — no upselling, no made-up problems, just solid work and real communication. I’ve been to plenty of places where one small job somehow turns into needing brakes, ball joints, struts, and everything else… not here. Kevin was straight-up, professional, and earned my trust. I definitely see a long-term mechanic relationship coming out of this one. Highly recommend!
