- AWAmindfulnessjourni WMar 15, 20261.0Pilot in Higginsville was very nasty. When we stopped the first night, the bathrooms smelled like something had died in there. I initially thought someone had just used it and left it in bad shape. However, when I went back the next morning (about 10 hours later) to freshen up, the restroom smelled exactly the same and the same tissue was still on the floor, which tells me it hadn’t been cleaned at all. What made it worse was seeing employees standing around talking while there was clearly a mess that needed attention. The tables and floors in the food area had crumbs everywhere, and the soda and coffee counters also needed to be cleaned. I had planned to grab something to eat there, but after seeing the condition of the restroom and food area, I decided to go back to the truck and cook instead. I understand that this is a truck stop and some truckers can be messy, but there are still many of us who keep a clean home and take care of ourselves. The amenities provided for drivers passing through should be maintained with care and basic cleanliness. Unfortunately, this was one of the nastiest Pilot locations I’ve visited.
