I have a mechanical background, but I don’t usually work on transmissions, and I knew that catching it early would allow for a much cheaper fix compared to a full rebuild later on. Mind you, this vehicle only has 80,000 miles on it and all maintenance is up to date. At first, I took it to a chain store in the KC area (they have locations all around the metro and the Midwest) to use their diagnostic tools, which I don’t have. They confirmed my initial suspicion but then tried to sell me a complete rebuild for around $6,000. I passed and walked away. Knowing it was a minor problem, I researched online and found Nichols. I called them, and they immediately recognized the issue with this particular vehicle. They examined it, confirmed the diagnosis, and offered to fix just the problem—at a fraction of the cost of a full rebuild. Best of all, they were honest, knowledgeable, and didn’t try to sell me anything I didn’t need. In this day and age, you have to admire a mechanic like that. I would highly recommend Nichols to anyone needing transmission repair.
