I recently rented a commercial truck and called ahead to clarify a few basic policies—including whether I could drop off the truck at a different location than the one listed on my reservation. The representative assured me it was allowed and that there would be no extra charge. I never said I would drop it elsewhere—I was simply asking the question. Instead of honoring what he told me, the rep took it upon himself to call the drop-off location and report that I “wasn’t going to return it there”—which was untrue and totally inappropriate. As a result, the store charged me a completely unnecessary $600 deposit to “guarantee” the return at the original location, all based on a hypothetical question. This kind of behavior is unprofessional, misleading, and punitive toward customers who are simply trying to understand policies before making decisions. Prior to this interaction, I had only stellar experiences with this location (Nick, specifically). So it was really disappointed that this one representative acted in such a juvenile manner.
