I enjoyed the three gentlemen who all helped me on a rainy Saturday afternoon. I felt a bit guilty I didn't wind up spending any money, but I had a great time chatting and laughing and getting advice. Good people who know their stuff.

- SSSkiMar 4, 20264.0I need a pair of gas springs to hold up the hood of one of my vehicles, I need a pair that is not searchable by year make and model as it's a custom installation. I need 75 lb units with half inch body diameter, 20 inches center to center extended length compatible with 10mm ball stud interface and 9 inch collapsed travel. The employee was unable to look up gas charged springs by dimensions details. He was helpful otherwise.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
