The service center that installed it has been great. It is the intoxalock device and company that I have had nothing but problems with since it was installed. It constantly won’t start my car and when I call them they tell me it is my battery which is brand new. I tried to tell them that there is something wrong with the device and the response is you can take it in for an inspection. Which will cost me $200. Now I was left stranded because I went to get in my car and the device told me I didn’t have it calibrated in time. It isn’t due for 2 months. So I have to have it towed to the company to have a new device installed, because they now say there is something wrong with it. This is just the start of the issues I have had with it. My advice find a different company to use. This one isn’t helpful at all. Plus they reported a false violation to my state and won’t give me the information on it. I have to pay for that, another mistake that isn’t on my end that they want money for!

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle.
