Update to my post before - 11/19/2024 * I received a call back from Intoxalock and Daniel helped me within half hour with my reimbursement. He was AWSOME to work with. _________________________________________________________ Long story so I'll try to make it short. I would not recommend their products to even my worst enemy. Thier device drained my battery, so I had to get it towed to a service center, because the tow truck could not even jump my car to start my car, the tow cost me $190.91. The service center had to charge my battery and that cost me $119.00. I was a conference call with Intoxalock and the Service Center and Intoxalock admitted that the device was faulty and needed to send a new one, free of charge. the next day I had to order an Urber to go and pick up my car, 12.92. Intoxalock refused my request giving more lies on it was not their fault. I am so frustrated on them lying to me I AM switching provided. My message is DO NOT use Intoxalock you will just be disappointed!!! Update - 11/19/2024 * I received a call back from Intoxalock and Daniel helped me within half hour with my reimbursement. He was AWSOME to work with.

Intoxalock will try to suck as much money out of you as possible. Easy to use device, when it decides it wants to work. Unlike the time my 17 month old son were stuck in my car when it was negative degrees outside. Nothing they could do to help. Device is extremely dangerous if you drive a manual transmission vehicle. Device will work 70% of the time in the cold. All in all, choose a different company. The guys that installed it are great though.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
