Updates appear at end of review
Well.. it's Wednesday 2/25/26 at 3:56pm. I arrived at 3:15. Was 4th car in line. A nice fella came out , said it'd be a 45 minute wait. I am now 2nd in line. Found coupon online, was also told they offer military discounts. We will see. I will update review once I finally get inside.
Update: 4:08pm.. dude came out and liked to give me a heart attack. Said he wasn't sure he could even do my car's oil change... cause well it's a fiat... luckily for him ( just kiddin), he came back with a big ol' thumbs up.
Asked about coupon vs military discount, he said the military will provide a bigger discount. 4:12 and I'm next in line. Will update once inside
Update : receipt says 4:36pm . Price was good 120 or so after discount. The guys were nice. They made my time with them very pleasant.
I'm going to leave it at 4 stars because according to their computer 1. My car belonged to someone else and 2. The system won't allow them to put the European Full Synthetic in my car.
Let's address 1. I've always owned my car and never have i gone to valvoline in Minnesota. So that was strange and 2. I normally either bring my own oil ( liquimoly) or get it done at a shop that uses LM.So I've never encountered a shop not using the oil i asked for. But one oil change, shouldn't be that bad, I'll do it next time with the LM and mann filter. ....
Update 2/27/26
I started thinking.. my car's oil filter and plastic housing are a PITA to unscrew and remove. And have to be done from the top of the vehicle. Ive seen seasoned mechanics bump a knuckle or mumble under their breath while removing it.
When I was in the bay, the dude at the front of the vehicle had no tools in his hands, no gloves on, no evidence of handling a gross oil filter with or without gloves.
Okay, whatever maybe I missed it, maybe he was a super pro.. benefit of the doubt I suppose.. ( never thought to ask for the old filter, I read on reddit that some people really do ask to see at least the old one)
I called earlier this morning, which is a totally different irritant ( I DETEST AI and freaking robots trying to understand basic commands). Once a human comes on, it didn't really get much better. You are connected to a corporate call center. So I told them briefly of my thoughts about the filter, but because my frustration was getting the best of me, I said you know what I'm like a couple of miles away, I'll just swing through.
I got sidetracked... didn't make it
A couple of hours later, I was on the interstate and the car just feels.... not right.
And then the dash lights started blinking ( thankfully they were yellow) and bells were going off alerting me that i needed to tend to the oil.
The light would come on, go out, come on, go out, it appeared that when I accelerated is when the light would appear.
I was able to safely make it home.
On the drive home, I called the store number again. It's about 8pm at this point.
Spoke to the corporate call center. Was transferred to the location and waited on hold until it rang back to the call center, like 12 minutes. That was cool with me though, cause I got the coolest chick. Laid back, professional, able to cut up with me... I explained my predicament and she was very helpful. She stated a claim for me, contacted the store herself and let them know, I will be swinging by in the morning which will be 2/28/26. I will update after..
2/28/26 - stopped in. Met by the Asst Man and the gang. I really do like these guys. Mike ( i think that's his name, I hope it is) had read my review and was excited for me to get there. Im also very excited the light came in while I was there ( ya know so I don't look crazy 😜) they assured me everything was intact and determined the lights were of no worry and reset it with the secret decoder key ( pump gas, honk horn 3 times... 😀)
I'm pleased with their patience, their desire to do their best and for just being really good at customer relations. 😊
...the price we pay for convenience isn't always worth it...
