Bobby and Steve’s is the best auto service in the Twin Cities. Always professional, reliable and knowledgeable. The whole team has treated me with nothing but respect!

Installation shop needed specific wiring directions for my hydrid. My contact nor support would respond to that need. My car was at shop for day and a half. I had arranged rides for day one, she came across town to pick me up right before shop called to say they couldn’t complete install with further wiring info. Next day they eventually figured it out on their own because no one from Intoxalock would respond. Ending up costing me an additional $80 from original quote. Mike was great on the day he was getting me to register with you, completely unhelpful and unconcerned with my dilemma from then on. Honestly, I feel a bit scammed. Follow up: Bianca, a customer service advocate has been in touch with me twice. She credited my account for the extra charges She was very helpful and expressed concern and apologies for my experience. Since the initial hiccups, all has been good.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
