She suggested a spark plug replacement and possibly the ignition coils if that didnt fix our problem. We were 3 hours from home and she recommended we not drive on it. Shops were all closed at this time and I thought we were stuck. We asked if by any chance anyone would be able to help fixed our vehicle at this time of night. She called a few of their clients and no answer. She then helped us fix our vehicle. She got our family back on the road. We made it home safely and vehicle has had no other issues. Kudos Piper!!! Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
