- BBBenny B5 days ago3.0I went into the Washington St. store today looking to borrow a tool. When I approached the store attendant and asked if they had the tool he said “no”. The tool was a common tool to check the compression of a cylinder. I then asked if they had one in stock and his reply was “no”. He never looked it up or offered to look it up. I walked down the tool isle and found one and brought it to the register he was at. His reply was “oh, you found one”. After ringing it up he asked how I wanted my receipt and I said “printed”. He handed me the receipt and I said “Thank You” and he said nothing. It seems that manners are something of the past and a thank you given to a patron is as well. Went back and he attempted to sell me the wrong one again saying “well thats just what the computer says” even when I had the right one and the one he was trying to sell me next to each other and they were clearly not the same. I am 16 by the way and just trying to fix my car. Finally fingers crossed got the right one. Told him to have a good day and he just kept head down and grunted. Very displeased.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
