I’m sure it’s fine for tractor trailers, but I would suggest that you do not attempt to get your personal/smaller trailer weighed here. I called and asked if they could weigh my trailer so that I could get it registered at the SOS, they said yes. I showed up and asked how it worked, they said just drive the truck and trailer onto the scale. I was skeptical but assumed that the scale was somehow fancy enough to calculate the trailer weight alone. I received a weight slip that, in no way, told me the correct weight of my trailer. I asked if I could drop the trailer on the scale and pull my truck off, they said normally they don’t allow it but I could try. They said the trailer alone was too light to trip the scale, but it did display approx. 1,500lbs for a split second. I went back in and politely said I wasn’t paying for the original weight slip because it was useless to me, it didn’t display the correct trailer weight. They said that the second number down should be the correct one. I know my truck weighs about 8k lbs (F250) so the trailer weighs about 1,500 lbs just like they said the scale displayed, albeit momentarily. So, I guess they’re telling me that my trailer weighs almost 5k lbs, which is ridiculous. The staff argued with me and said that it has worked for other people and that I needed to pay because the scale “just lives here”, they’re not in charge of it and every time a weight slip is produced someone must pay the fee. I paid it because I’m such a nice guy, but told them that they should warn people in the future before charging them for a weight slip which leaves no way of deducing the actual weight of their trailer. (My trailer is a two axle 16ft steel framed trailer and weighs approx. 1,500lbs.) The staff here are ignorant to the operation of the scale, which is one thing, but don’t give me guff when I point it out, I’m just trying to be accurate.
