  My Ford escape was damaged on front passenger side in a minor accident. I was working with Gerber Collision suggested by my insurance to get repair quote. First quote was provided on Monday, January 19 and I was given an appointment for detailed assessment next Monday January 26. After I dropped my car on January 26, I got a detailed secondary quote on Thursday, January 29 over a phone call. This quote sounded reasonable and well below total loss threshold. Estimator said that he will send this to insurance and get their approval to start the repairs. However, I did not see updated quote on insurance website by end of the next day. I called insurance on Monday, with the claim number, it was forwarded to "Total Loss Department". When I was connected my claim handler, she said they are still waiting for one more quote from Gerber. I called back Gerber and talked to the estimator who was handling my vehicle. He said he is checking if there are any more possible damages. Insurance received the final estimate in next day or two and was uploaded on my claim. It was $200 above the total loss threshold, and my car was deemed total loss by insurance. I am no mechanic, but there was only a minor damage to the hood and the grille, car was drivable, no warnings on dashboard and no leaks from engine compartment. I did not agree with the assessment. Additionally, I saw many line items in the quote which looked unnecessary, e.g. repaint scratches on door which were present prior to the accident, headlamp change on driver side which had 0 damage from the accident. So, I decided to take a second opinion before handing over the car to insurance. I took car to nearby collision shop and got it repaired there. I was not happy overall with the Gerber Collision, Novi. I lost 3 weeks of time, and no repairs were done here.

  I am so glad I chose Gerber collision in Novi to handle my claims. From the first call to the final pick up, they were such professionals. They arranged my rental car and I utilized their concierge service to have it delivered and my car picked up. Great service! I had scheduling issues due to my work schedule and distance to where I work and they worked so hard to help make things happen. My car was ready in a timely manner and they communicated with me throughout the process. Thanks to the whole team there. I highly recommended!
