Extremely Disappointing Experience – Poor Service and Dishonesty
I had one of the worst rental experiences ever at this location. I originally made a reservation for the Grandville location, but accidentally arrived at this one. The staff told me they could still help, so I stayed.
The agent couldn’t locate my reservation, so I showed him my confirmation email for a standard car. Instead of informing me that no standard cars were available, he rebooked my reservation as a compact car without my consent. When we walked to the vehicle, I told him that wasn’t the car I booked. He then said it was — which was untrue — and only after I pushed back did he “upgrade” me for an extra $40. Normally, when the reserved car class isn’t available, an upgrade is provided at no extra cost.
To make matters worse, the total price for my new booking came to $303 when my original reservation was $269, even though I had booked the same class of car.
When I returned the vehicle, I called at 5:45 PM to confirm I was on my way (the location closes at 6 PM) and was told it was fine. I arrived at 6:01 PM, and there were three employees outside, yet none would assist me. One ignored me, another claimed he didn’t work there, and the rest went inside and locked the doors. I left the key in the car since no one would help.
The next day, I called and spoke with Ana, who was extremely rude — she accused me of being rude even though I was calm and simply explaining what happened. When I tried to continue, she hung up. When I called back, she told me, “Ms. Fields, we’re no longer answering your calls or questions.”
I later spoke to the manager, Maya, who also seemed uninterested in hearing my side. She falsely claimed the car “ran all night with the window down,” which was not true — my sister drove by at 10 PM and saw it parked, and I recorded a video at 5:30 AM showing the car off. When I pointed this out, she changed the subject to a declined card during my rental extension, even though the payment went through the next day and was fully covered.
This entire experience was unprofessional, dishonest, and disrespectful from start to finish. I’ve never been treated this poorly as a customer, and I hope this situation is reviewed seriously.
