- CCcarissimaDec 2, 20255.0I called on this frigid eve to see if this particular Advance Auto Parts had a 2pk of this needle-in-a-haystack headlight I need. Nowhere else had it in stock, so I was not surprised when Tom informed me that no such headlights were available at this location. What did surprise me, though, was that no more than 5 minutes later, Tom called me back to let me know he had found another location that did have them, and gave me the price as well. The spirit of customer service that Tom possesses is the stuff of legend. The type that has been fabled from the old days, where the overly-chipper service mask doesnt exist, and it's just a guy who will do what hes gotta do to see to it that people get the help that they need (even if they dont expect it!) As a customer service worker myself, I want to say that not only do I appreciate you, but I look up to you as an inspiration. Thank you so much.

All the reviews rave about getting help and being informed on what battery they need for their vehicle, which I would assume from an auto parts store, but we were told "well you should know what battery your vehicle needs." Gave them our vehicle info to find what battery we needed, and I asked for the most affordable one. Bought it. Installed it and it didn't work. Re installed the old one and it worked. Went to return or figure something out, yes I know you can't technically return a battery. Explained my situation and was told "when you ask for the cheapest one that's what we're gonna give you" uhh, what? So me asking for the most affordable battery FOR my vehicle now equates to me asking for and purchasing a battery that doesn't even work and turns out is the wrong battery for me? Then I was told the best they could do is test a different (but same) battery and replace it. Great.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
