On 12/7/25 at approximately 3:40 PM, I came in to get a diagnostic test because my check-engine light was on. An older gentleman with glasses and brown skin assisted me. I wish I had gotten his name because he was not helpful and, in my opinion, dishonest.
He performed the diagnostic test and told me no issues were found. I asked how that was possible, and he responded by asking how long the light had been on. I told him it came on that morning. He then said the light needs to be on for a few days before the system can read anything. I didn’t want to argue, even though that hasn’t been my experience in the past, so I left and sat in my car for a moment.
I went back inside and asked if he could perform a battery test because I suspected the battery might be causing the issue. He told me no, claiming that because it was cold outside, he would have to bring my car into the shop and remove the battery, which would take two hours. I asked if he could do it now, and he said no, stating there’s only two employees working. The store wasn’t busy at all, and he had just done the diagnostic test, so I didn’t understand why a battery test was a problem.
I left frustrated because it seemed clear he simply didn’t want to help. I went to another AutoZone location, and they were able to do the battery test immediately. I ended up purchasing a new battery there. The test took less than a minute, proving it was not the difficult or time-consuming task he claimed it to be. Because of him, this AutoZone location lost a sale.
I’m glad I didn’t buy anything from here. I hope the manager sees this because the way he handled the situation was uncalled for. While I was at the other location, multiple customers came in mentioning they had just came from here as well as the others ones with issues. It doesn’t make sense that someone would refuse to help customers and mislead them the way he did.
