  I really enjoy renting my cars from DTW airport. The counter persons are always friendly and eager to help you and especially the guys that sit on the side and show you where the cars are. My favorite guy is Mr. Robert. I’ve been missing him the last few times I came to rent a car but overall, I would always come to Alamo in DTW

  This review for mainly about the customer service. The pick up and drop off process at the DTW was seamless. I called multiple times to try to get an upgrade. The size of the trunk was not big enough for my needs. I also wanted a better 4 wheel drive, winter storms in Michigan problems.. After a couple of days of seeking, one customer service tech said yes, I found one an hour away, I'll reserve it for you. I drive an hour in an ice storm only to be told, there is no vehicle. I call again to ask what happened? Was apologized to and had a supervisor call me back. Ok, I keep looking. Find one, put in another reservation. Thank goodness the desk at this airport called me when she saw my reservation, and she didn't have any vehicles either. If that lady hadn't called I would have again drove an hour to another airport, only find out, no vehicle was available. HUGE SHOUT-OUT TO ENTERPRISE IN SAULT STE MARIE MICHIGAN!!! I did learn the enterprise, Alamo, and national are all one fleet. I'd leave zero stars for their customer service if I could! Also if you're renting in a winter state, don't go for the sub size SUV. It is not going to cut it. Also, there are statements and signs everywhere that they are now making a $500 deposit required. Ok, that's fine but I was charged $850. I was told this is because it's considered a luxury vehicle. Do better Alamo. If customer service can see what types of vehicles are available, why not make it so they can see if any are available at the counter!

  I want to thank Melanie at Alamo Detroit airport. I explained that the first car I rented from them had an oil leak which caused me to have to spend time getting it exchanged at the Lansing airport, and Melanie gave me a $200 discount for this trouble. Renting cars at the holidays is expensive, and I appreciate that Alamo showed integrity/fairness in this situation.

  It's easy to provide great service when things go right. It's when things go wrong that you get to see how a company operates. We had an issue with a vehicle we had reserved for a Holiday trip. Caroline at the front desk staff did everything that she could to help and eventually got the manager Jeff involved. He went above and beyond what he needed to do for the inconvenience. In addition, when I returned the vehicle another manager Larenz made sure my bill was correct as I had to add an additional day to the rental. He personally handled the bill himself and made sure everything was correct and that I had the confirmation email before I left. Great job everyone.

  Very poor roadside assistance and phone customer service when you need them. I had a mishap with my rental van in NYC and had to return the car to a nearest location for a swap, but the roadside assistance was of zero help. I fact they had no clue on how to direct and guide me to the right location where an appropriate swap could be availed.tl They did not even inform the rental locations about my case and that I would be coming there. I had taken my family to nyc for sightseeing , but spend my entire day calling customer service and assistance and waiting for call back. Everytime they said, the case is escalated and I will hear back l, but I did not except for a missed call while my phone battery had died down for half hour. After hours support, the assistance is pathetic. The staff at the rental locations was cordial and helpful. No issues with them. They were professional and I would give full marks to them.
