  I have been renting from National for many years and Ann Arbor airport is close to my home so it is convenient for me to rent from here. Their service has deteriorated. It is up and down sometimes it is very good sometime not so. They surprised me recently. They surprise me really well I was about to pick up my car and about one hour before my pick up time. I had a call that my reservation is cancelled.They were sold out and the reason is that University of Michigan students are returning so they need a lot of cars and so when I called National car Rental back and said why is this why you say sold out because I booked the car four days ago and you promised me a car and now one hour before my pick up time you tell me you don’t have a car for me sold out how come. The rep didn’t have an answer so now that puts a doubt in my mind that when I book a car and I go there, am I going to get a car or not that’s not a very good situation .

  I truly believe this Rental car location is doing an intentional bait and switch, or false advertising. If you book a premium or any specific type of rental online with a reservation through their site after several rentals I can tell you they never have that vehicle class available and stick you with whatever economy class they have. You can see this in other reviews. I called their corporate number and the lady on the phone explained each branch is supposed to update the site with the car classes that branch has available. This location will never have a premium, full size SUV, sporty car or convertible, despite listing all of those categories on their reservation system. They know if they told you what they really had you might choose to rent someplace else, but by the time you show up there, dropped off by an uber or friend, you need some form of transportation and will accept whatever car they give you at whatever price they make up on the spot. Not only is this bad customer service but I believe it is illegal and falls under deceptive trade practices.
