Worst customer service I have encountered. I have been trying to contact customer service Stateside and I am always transferred out of country call center. Did maintenance on my truck due to a battery failure. Battery was purchased 2 months prior to installation with a 1 year warranty. Unfortunately the service center stated it was a bad core when my battery couldn't hold a charge. Do I blame the equipment for damaging the battery.....? Of course not, it was a bad battery and I reported this to Intoxalock that my battery is having issues and I did put a trickle charge on it. I was informed by a gentlemen outside the U.S. that it was not a problem and I would not be charged a fee. A Maintenance order was put in until this could be resolved. Unfortunately it was not because I was charged the fee. When my battery went low again, I had the trickle charge put on, had the vehicle jumped, and bought a new battery. Nothing. My truck was towed to the place that installed the equipment. Terminal was bad. A maintenance order was placed and I called the company that transferred me out of state again. We debated the extent of last charge, this maintenance, and I requested to speak with their supervisor. NOPE, I was denied speaking with their supervisor 5 times. This was on speaker phone and listened to by my fiancƩe who stepped in and stated that by protocol we are allowed to speak with her supervisor and we wanted all case notes from the last 5 contact calls. We were denied again, I tried to call U.S. call center to speak with a CSR and was always transferred out of State call center to report or speak with their CSR which.... again, denied to speak with a supervisor. I was already put in for violation to refuse a blow but when the pictures were sent it, shows that I was giving a sample in 3 different segments and time. My referee judge reinstated my license since it was evidently clear from the pictures time stamped that I did not refuse as they indicated. Now that I pushed to speak with a supervisor and request case notes, which were denied again, they placed me in violation. This time it was for tampering and low voltage. Huh? I have all receipts that show the purchases of the first and second battery, the tow to the service center, the fee to fix the vehicle. I requested the maintenance request from intoxalock, NOTHING. I need this for my hearing since they entered a violation that I clearly called in and entered it online. Midas called me and stated that my breathalyzer stated I was being locked out even though I called before hand. I called them and they stated that they are clearing the breathalyzer and I could get it reconfigured. They will not provide casenotes from their CSR or audio since my conversations were recorded. Everyone stay away from this company until they take calls stateside and eliminate this ridiculous call centers outside the U.S. I am retired Army, Disabled combat vet with 4 years of combat duty in the Middle East. Now I work for the State in workforce development under the Department of Labor and Economics. I accept my wrongs for what I did and consequences but they are setting people up for failure. I went to a seminar by Nationwide insurance and Intoxalock was mentioned and was stated that they set clients up for failure. KEEP away from this company. This is the short version of all that transpired.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
