- TBTim BeidelMar 11, 20265.0Honest service! I let my truck sit to the point where the ignition wouldn’t even “click” , and the battery needed a long trickle charge. It was during a sub-zero cold snap, and I figured I did it in. After confirming they had the replacement I needed in stock, the staff there unprompted insisted on testing the existing battery first. (I would have insisted on this but I didn’t even have to bring it up.) The battery tested healthy, so the test (and the staffer) saved me a couple hundred bucks.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
