If you can go with a different interlock company I would highly recommend it. Intoxalocks device is highly unsafe in my opinion the mouth piece always tends to fly off when you have to blow into it going down the high way at 60 mph. So then I gotta look where the mouth piece is and not focus on the road. I wouldn’t be shocked if this company has a lawsuit in its near future due to a multi vehicle collision. Also the devices tends to go off every 15 minutes which I think is absurd. Last thing I have noticed after a month of having it installed it messes with my car’s motherboard. I hope it stops after I get it uninstalled but we will see. Ooooo and one more thing there customer service is trash I told the guy where I lived and he was try to send me to a place that’s an hour and a half a way when there is a shop 20 minutes from my house that could have installed it. So I had to pay extra to have some guy come out on the weekend. I personally think i should get a refund on that. So people reading this that are getting it done look up local shops that can do the work first then call them and just tell them where you’re going because like i said their service line is trash. Also the people that I goto that work for them feels the same way, as tho Intoxalock people have no clue to what they are doing and they are hard to deal with.
Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.
