UPDATE: I am now eligible for device removal. When you are paying them or signing up, you get someone on the phone right away. When you need it removed, you are on eternal hold. I called 5 times have the removal work order sent to my service center. I was kept on hold for up to 30 minutes on 3 of the 5 calls and eventually hung up. What a joke. I would strongly advise using any other ignition interlock provider. This provider in my opinion Is no better than an extortionist. The service is horrible. The box itself is old and junk and their customer service is absolutely Ridiculous. Be smart. Do not make my mistake. Find another provider. UPDATE…but first a little perspective. Prior to signing up with an Interlock provider this outfit will call you relentlessly to secure your business and you’ll speak with someone who has a fine grasp of the English language. Once you’ve signed up, good luck getting anyone on the phone outside of a foreign call center….until you leave a bad review. Then you’ll get a call from a “supervisor” right here in the USA. The one who called me was named Bianca or Blanca. No thanks. Although I should be done already, I’ve got two months left with this despicable company. I will not be returning your call. Now you know how it feels when you try to get in touch for answers and it turns out to be an exercise in futility. DO NOT CALL ME AGAIN By the way, I’ve added photos of the ancient box they make me pay for along with the “sleeve” you have to lease. So I guess they’ll be wanting that back. LOL. And let’s not forget about the additional “roadside assistance fee” they charge you every month. Again, I strongly suggest you take your business elsewhere and avoid Intoxalok like the plague.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle.
