Dishonest, Disorganized and Predatory
This has been, without question, the worst rental car experience I have ever had.
I rented a vehicle from Enterprise in La Plata through another party’s insurance after being involved in a car accident. I was given a Nissan Sentra (a major downgrade from my personal Mercedes-Benz, but I digress). While the rental was in my possession, there was a snowstorm. Ice became lodged in the black plastic undercarriage cover — not mechanical damage, not an accident, not driver negligence.
To be proactive, I brought the vehicle to the Enterprise Airport location to switch it out. I was explicitly told this would NOT be pursued as a claim because it was an “act of God.” By Corey. I even spoke to Torrance (one of the managers from the DCA support location) Clear. Done. Or so I thought.
Two days later, after switching out and leaving without a notice or written claim of damage recovery same day, I received notice from Enterprise’s Damage Recovery Unit claiming there was “accident damage.” I immediately contacted the airport to follow up and was told it is a different department that does the claim writing. Later, I went in person to speak to Oscar, the branch manager at the La Plata location where I picked the vehicle up. Oscar assured me repeatedly that no claim would be pursued once it comes to his branch and that I shouldn’t be charged because it was in fact true of the matter being an act of God. He then claimed that both he and his area manager, Jasmine, would “handle it” and that I shouldn’t worry. I was promised a follow-up call from the area manager to confirm this.
That call never came.
Three weeks later, despite all of those assurances, Enterprise’s Damage Recovery Unit has now filed a claim with my insurance, falsely stating that I was involved in an accident — which is completely untrue. This is over plastic shielding on the undercarriage, not collision damage.
This feels deceptive, disorganized, and predatory. One department tells you one thing to keep you calm, while another quietly moves forward behind your back. There is no accountability, no communication, and no integrity.
Enterprise has shown itself to be grimy, money-hungry, conniving, and dishonest in how it handles customers, especially those renting through insurance who are already dealing with enough stress.
Then on top of this; there’s a staff member by the name of Crystal who constantly calls demanding that you call insurance for an update with underlining soft threats of being charged due to them setting a last day. She has little phone etiquette and her tone can be a bit condescending. I even asked if she could share that info with insurance being that they share one system. She lied and told me that they aren’t responsible for that and do not communicate with adjusters, it’s the renters responsibility to reach out to avoid payment. Anyone familiar with the rental process and insurance knows that they do not set an extensive date of completion of days to cover the rental. My vehicle has been in the shop for over 2 months. I felt harassed a bit and mishandled. There was little to no empathy, no rapport building and the space she created was not friendly.
I would never recommend this location or this company. If you value transparency, honesty, or basic professionalism, rent elsewhere!
