I sat there waiting, watching the minutes pass, trying to keep my nerves in check. About ten minutes later, the same gentleman walked past me. Without stopping, he gently patted my shoulder and said, “Merry Christmas. The keys are in the car,” before heading back into the bay. Confused, I stood up and looked through the window when another man came out to confirm it. “The keys are in the car, hun,” he said. “I know,” I replied, still trying to understand, “but I need to pay.” He smiled and said words I won’t ever forget. “No, it’s on us. Merry Christmas. Go ahead and get to your Christmas party.” That’s when the frustration melted into tears. I cried right there like a baby—not because of the tire or the rushed morning, but because of the unexpected kindness. The price over the phone is different than the price in the store…my keys have been left on the counter with an empty store no employees around while cops show up…things left unattached to my vehicle after service is complete…trying to talk me out of getting my tires rotated because they’re still new etc. I might need to find a new location
