- AJAmy JNov 23, 20254.0With the people working the registers and working in the Golden Corral, this place has amazing potential! They were all so friendly and welcoming! We stayed here from a Friday morning till Sunday morning, paid for a reserved spot and felt safe. We ate 3 times at the Golden Corral (1 lunch, 2 breakfasts) and it was good but the people are what makes it stand out. The service was outstanding! We showered on Friday and the shower was okay. The toilet seat had not been cleaned from the prior guest and apparently they were gross. I cleaned it and let it go because everything else seemed okay and the water pressure was good and hot. Sunday morning, we entered the shower at around 1130 am and at 1205 someone banged loudly on the door. I said "yes sir" and he said "just checking on you". I was confused because I didn't think I had been in there that long but I hurried up and finished getting ready. When I exited the shower, I told my partner what happened and she said the same happened to her and she entered her shower about 5 minutes after me. When I asked the man (really tall, big guy with bushy hair) if he knocked on the door, he said it was a wellness check and they do that after an hour. I was so taken aback at the time that he said this, it didnt occur to me to tell him that i wasnt in there for an hour. I've never heard of this at any other flying J in America. He said they are required to check because you are not supposed to be in there for more than an hour. I told him, im sorry I took so long but the shower room was filthy and I had to wipe it down prior to using it. The toilet was filthy with fecal matter inside the bowl and sides. The sink had hair in it as well as the shower walls. He said well, okay, I'll tell the "other guy". Im not sure of the other guy he's referring to as we only saw him and he was the one who is knocking on doors. If this is in fact, a policy at this Flying J, at least give people an hour before you start banging on the door. I can truly understand the hour wellness check, especially if there are other customers waiting but there wasnt anyone waiting. If this is a case of he wants to stay as far ahead as possible, i get that too but at least give people trying to use the bathroom, shower and groom themselves who cant do everything in their truck the full hour and signage stating the hour limitations at this location should be posted as well. I hate to leave this review but like I said, this location has so much potential. A manager reviewing the shower cleaning procedures directly after random shower cleanings would not be to challenging because, according to reviews, this is not an uncommon issue. In fact, it seems to be the main issue at this location and has been for a long time.
