    I am grateful that Enterprise provided us with a car, but we had to take a larger van because nothing else was available. We were told when we took the van that we could come back or go to any Enterprise location at any time to swap it out with a smaller car, which our insurance company was going to pay for in full. However, every time we called the different Enterprise locations, we were initially told to come in and to exchange the car. BUT, as soon as we told them, that it was to be paid through an insurance claim, they would put me on hold and come back and say that they had made a mistake and that there were no cars available! They suggested that I should call other Enterprise dealers who would definitely help me out. All of the people taking my call offered to call me as soon as cars were available. Yet, the same pattern occurred. I would call, then ask if we could swap our van out for a smaller car. All of them instructed me to come in and that there were several cars available. Then, as soon as I mentioned that this was an insurance claim, they would put me on hold and again come back and say that they were sorry that they made a mistake and that there were no cars available. This happened SEVEN times when I called various Enterprise locations. It was definitely a pattern of letting me know that your company did not want to honor renting cars that were available if they were being paid by an insurance claim. I called over the course of one week, the different locations and each and every time the same pattern occurred. As a result, we have had to pay double the price of what we would have paid otherwise, than if your company had simply honored our request for a smaller car that would have been covered by our insurance claim. The other problem was that the windshield wiper for the passenger side was the wrong size. As a result, the passenger side window was never clear from rain whenever it was raining. I mentioned this to each of the seven location that I called that we had to replace the van because of the wrong size windshield wiper blade, which was not operating properly on the passenger side. It was only after I called the original dealership where I rented the car, was I told that all I had to do was to go to any Jiffy lube shop to get it replaced for free. Again, we appreciate the professional courtesy that we were given at the dealer in Clinton, Maryland. But we find it disappointing that whenever we wanted to get a car at any other location in Maryland, DC or Virginia, the same pattern of saying “Yes come in, we have plenty of cars…” only to find out that as soon as I had an insurance claim, I would be put on hold and then told “…sorry we made a mistake… We don’t have any cars available.” We would hope that upper management at Enterprise would address this tendency.

    I made a reservation on February 25 for a noon pickup on February 27. That morning, I called to ask about picking up early and was told to keep my original time because the car wasn’t available yet. At 12:02 pm-'after my reservation time had already started--they called to say they had no cars available at all. I received no prior notice. I was told they’ve been warning customers about inventory issues due to a snowstorm five weeks earlier, but that was never communicated to me. They said they might have a car around 4 pm, which didn’t work since I needed to be on the road by 1 p.m. I was then placed on hold while they “looked into options” and waited over 30 minutes with no one returning to the call. Very frustrating experience. Accepting reservations without available vehicles and failing to notify customers in advance caused significant inconvenience.
