After going across the street to AutoZone and waiting for 5 minutes of being waited on, I was told that they didnt have time to put windshield wipers on and that I would have to wait. It was like go somewhere else. Why..no others customers in line..so I went across the street to Advanced Auto Parts and was treated like a queen by Daniel. He was kind and it only took him 3 minutes to put my windshield wipers on and even told me about the warranty to buy. Great job and thank you Daniel for treating me with respect and saving me money. I will tell my friends about this store! 5 stars for customer service!

- KSKristina SterlingMar 14, 20261.0If I could give no stars I would! Came in to get brake pads, front and rear, oil and filter, and engine and Cabin air filter. Informed the counter tech that I am pregnant and urgently need to use the bathroom. He proceeded to tell me they have no public restroom, I then informed him it is illegal to deny a pregnant woman in Maryland a restroom no matter the circumstance and he still the refused to let me use the restroom. My husband has always been a loyal customer to advanced auto and gets all of his materials needed from them, being a mechanic he has spent plenty of money with the company. Since we were refused the restroom I could not purchase the parts needed because of my urgency in needing to use the bathroom and made it a point I will not be going back! Luckily there is an autozone across the street and didn’t have to go far. Very disappointed with your service!

I came in expecting a quick and simple purchase—just a pair of tailgate lift shocks—but Chad turned what I thought would be a routine stop into an unexpectedly educational experience. Chad took the time to explain the installation process in detail and pointed out a few things I hadn’t considered. What impressed me most was how clearly and patiently he communicated—he even pulled up a short video to show exactly what he was describing. His professionalism, product knowledge, and genuine willingness to help made all the difference. At 74 years old, I’ve done my share of DIY car work, but I can honestly say that without Chad’s guidance, I would probably still be out there struggling to install those shocks the wrong way. Thanks to him, the job went smoothly, and I learned something new in the process. Chad deserves full credit for his expertise and excellent customer service. Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
