  Doug Russell found a vintage part for me. This was a part that i had been advised to "just replace" with a new system by almost everyone. Mr. Russell expended his time and effort to locate the part and I am fairly certain there was no profit for him. The part was important to me and I greatly appreciate his service and kindness. It was carefully packed for shipping and arrived in a timely manner in pristine condition.Everyone I spoke with at Doug Russell was courteous and helpful. Thank you for the great service!

  In searching for a new Mercury outboard motor, I found Doug Russell Marine to have the best price available close to me.Though it was a 2+ hour drive it was well worth it. Greg Lemire was a pleasure to work with and seemed very knowledgeable about the product. While waiting to pick up my boat after the new motor installation I had a very nice chat with Doug Russell about boating and water skiing. He impressed me acknowledging the importance of finding good, qualified service crew. I would not hesitate to recommend Doug Russell Marine to all my boating friends.

  We had a bent propeller shaft on our 25 year old 4Winns Volvo Penta drive late in season here in Colorado, and were not successful in getting local service for repairs (too much repair backlog). We water ski and wanted to get back on the water. I found Doug Russell via google search, and was also referred to by a great 'old time' parts man whom I was sourcing for parts to repair. I spoke with Doug and he spent time to walk me through options. His company is focused on service, and less on sales; I was amazed at the consultative help he provided, both directly and the easy access from all of his team. Finally Exhausting all local options AND realizing the technical experience required for a competent rebuild, Doug asked if I had a pallet and if I thought I could remove the drive, wrap it in a blanket, put a plywood board on top, strap it down, and label in large letters "Do not top load". I had already looked at several YouTubes, so was confident I could loosen the 6 nuts, and support the drive to remove. So my son and I removed the unit. Doug found me a local freight forwarder (saving $300) and we put the pallet in the truck and off we went. Doug kept me informed of arrival and progress. We discussed my needs, and he worked the rebuild into his schedule to give us another week of water skiing before the water just gets too cold here. Upon receiving the repaired drive, he offered any phone support we needed to re-install. I compared his prices with other sources, and he was not only the lowest but fully disclosed fully itemized pricing, 'estimate' that was the final price. I cannot imagine I could find another comprable source to repair my drive, regardless of the time and effort I would have to put forth. The drive performs flawlessly at all the loading we could put power to the prop, the boat runs almost 10% faster, and there is no longer any vibration and nor awkward sounds when the drive is turned full left or full right. My background is Mechanical Engineering, and I definitely understand the critical tolerances of right angle gears and transmission of 200+ horsepower through a drive train. We found getting up a little easier, as a bonus, and that is welcomed when you are water skiing in your 70's. Thank you Doug Russel, and crew. You are the BEST!!!
