- MEMichael EricksonFeb 3, 20265.0My battery died at 3:20pm. I called Advance Auto in Whitinsville and Brandon told me that my battery was under warranty. Brandon shared that I could come in and that he would replace and install a new battery for free. I jump started my dead battery one last time at 5:30pm, drove to Advance Auto, and Brandon, in 25 degree cold, replaced the battery, installed new battery hold-down bolts, and did it all at no charge. Brandon could not have been nicer. I will always do my automotive shopping at Advance Auto. Thank you Brandon for a GREAT experience!

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle.
