I brought my car to Goodyear Auto Service a couple of weeks ago to have my brakes done (pads and rotors). During that visit, I was told my right rear wheel bearing would likely need to be replaced soon, along with my tie rods.
About a week later, the issue persisted, so I called and brought the car back in. I made it very clear—multiple times—that I was concerned about the wheel bearing and wanted it checked. When I picked the car up after the second visit, I immediately noticed an issue— my ABS, traction control, service AWD were on and brake lights at around 25 mph. This was very concerning, especially since those are all safety-related systems. Despite this, I was told the car was safe to drive.
However, I was told the wheel bearing was “fine” and instead was advised to replace the axles and tie rods, which I agreed to thinking they had my best interests in mind. That repair cost me around $1,600.
Not long after, the problem got worse. I had the car re-diagnosed by another mechanic, who found significant play in the rear wheel and confirmed the wheel bearing needed to be replaced. This directly contradicted what I had just been told.
When I contacted Goodyear again, I was still told the wheel bearing was not loose. I has asked if this would be covered due to what appears to be a misdiagnosis, I was told no—and that it would cost an additional $450 to fix the wheel bearing.
On April 15th, while driving home on Route 20, I began hearing a loud grinding noise coming from the right rear wheel. It got so bad that I had to pull over and stop driving. I was lucky to be near a parking lot—this could have been much more dangerous if it happened at higher speed or in traffic.
At this point, I’ve spent over $1,700 (including a second diagnostic) and still have an unsafe vehicle that cannot be driven.
My main issue is not just the cost—it’s that my original concern about the wheel bearing and overall safety was not properly addressed. I feel like I was steered toward more expensive repairs while a serious safety issue was overlooked. Had everything been clearly explained and addressed upfront, I would have made a different decision.
Because of this experience, I’ve lost trust in their diagnosis and service. I am now considering getting an attorney involved due to the safety risk and how this situation was handled.
I will not be returning, and I strongly recommend others get a second opinion—especially when it comes to safety-related concerns.

I came in late on a Friday with leaking coolant. They were able to investigate and diagnose the issue. I was not able to get the work done there as we were travelling, though i was really impressed with how helpful and knowledgeable everyone was. Thank you!

I always went to Goodyear in Worcester for my car 14 years for everything. Recently I moved to webster and I came to the one here. I had the best experience all around! I love the new management! They got my car in fast and did the brakes within an hour. They were friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely be back for anything else.

I first went to the new Town Fair Tire in Webster and ended up at Good Year.
All I needed was four replacement tires mounted and balanced.
Town Fair told me that it was going g to be about $220.00 total where Good Year was a bit more than half of that.
Town Fair told me the cost was high based on the fact that I didn’t buy the tires there.
Regardless of where I bought the tires, the work required is exactly the same.
Honestly, I was extremely pleased to end up at GoodYear as they looked my car over with a fine tooth comb which was appreciated.
Their technicians are trained mechanics rather that just tire changers.
I won’t be going back to Town Fair.
