- RKRobin Kothari4 days ago1.0I brought my 2021 BMW X5 to the Valvoline Instant Oil Change in Walpole, MA on January 3, 2026 at around 10:00 AM for a routine oil change. My vehicle was operating normally before the service. Later the same evening, my car displayed a red critical warning: “Stop carefully. Turn off engine.” I immediately stopped driving and had the vehicle inspected by BMW of Norwood. BMW’s investigation found damage to the oil filter housing, documented with photos, and advised the repair would cost over $3,200, plus a $225.50 diagnostic fee. I filed a claim with Valvoline. The store manager inspected the vehicle at BMW Norwood and acknowledged that the oil change was not performed correctly. Despite this, Valvoline refused to take responsibility for the damage. This has been an extremely frustrating and costly experience following what should have been a simple oil change. I would strongly caution others to think carefully before trusting this location with their vehicle.

There have been so many times they have done a terrible job…they changed my engine filter (which is overpriced when you get it there), did an oil change close the hood and everything seemed fine. I got home and open the hood and the filter was sitting on top of the engine!

- MKMike KentDec 15, 20251.0The (1) Star rating is due to dishonesty on the part of this Valvoline location when recommending replacement components. I drive a fleet vehicle that must be viewed as a cash cow because Valvoline tries to get as much authorized as possible regardless of what actually needs to be done. In my latest (and final) experience, Valvoline tried to replace my wiper blades even though I had just replaced them 30 days prior and they cleaned my windshield perfectly when they had me test them in the shop. Unneeded parts with overpriced labor charges and weak explanations of “It was authorized by the Fleet management company” is not a good business model.
