I have been doing business with Water Street for almost 20 years. They have always been good to me. Very honest and give very fair prices. They provide great customer service and helped me out a lot throughout the years.

This shop is a scam and the owner is disrespectful. He lied multiple times about my car and hung up on me any time i called. Do not give your money to this shop! There is a Mobil gas station literally down the street. Go there instead. 😁

I’ve been a customer of Water St. Petroleum for the past three years, and they’ve always treated me with honesty and respect. Recently, I had an issue with my car. I first went to another shop near my work, and they wanted to charge me $700 to fix it. Instead, I decided to take it to my regular repair shop, Water St. Petroleum. After checking it out, they told me it was just a broken wire. They replaced it for only $90, and I didn’t need a new alternator or battery after all. Their honesty saved me almost $600. I highly recommend them to anyone!

Probably the single most unethical transaction I've experienced in over 20 years of car ownership. They charged me $340 for an AC recharge and the following day my AC was warm again. No consultation or conversation took place up front outside of a warning that "the freon my car takes is expensive". After consulting with multiple mechanics in the area I was informed that under no scenario does the way they handled this situation make sense and I was basically ripped off. Ya think? No estimate, no itemized receipt, I was never given an opportunity to consider the price, and I never signed off on a work order. All of these things are mandated under MA law section 940 CMR 5.00, btw. I actually went back an hour after the work was complete to get an itemized receipt and they wrote up a vague handwritten one that they had the audacity to write "no warranty" on. Mind you this was after I already paid for the work. 2 days later and I'm at another mechanic that comes highly recommended to get my AC diagnosed. They spent a 2-3 hours diagnosing my car, used the same exact vacuum equipment and freon gas, except instead of just filling the system up and sending me on my way with a bill for $340, they put the car on a lift and used a dye to detect or rule out any leaks. This from what I understand is standard operating procedure for diagnosing an AC leak. What Water St. Petroleum did is unethical and predatory. They spent 1 hour and 15 minutes tops on my car. BTW my total bill from the 2nd Mechanic was $225. I went back to Water St. the day after the repairs to air my complaints and I left my phone number because the owner wasn't unavailable. I also sent an email that night to the address that is clearly displayed on their website, but I never heard a word back from anyone. That speaks volumes imo. I have never been compelled to write an online review before and I'm aware that this is a pretty harsh one, but everything about this transaction rubbed me the wrong way. The mechanics I spoke to after the fact were pretty shocked at how the work was carried out and it really started to dawn on me that I was treated like a sucker. I can't imagine any scenario where it's acceptable to charge someone $340 for work that literally fails the next day. Imagine how pricey that would get for car owners. When your AC fails, you very likely have a leak somewhere. It's the mechanics job to find the leak and diagnose the problem. If they just want to fill your leaky system with expensive freon, overcharge you by 30%, and send you on your way, run dont walk out the door.
