- ELEmma LeBlancJul 4, 20255.0i was greeted immediately by general manager Chris. he helped me find brake pads and rotors for my car. although ive done brakes before, he reminded me that my newer car has an electronic ebrake that could cause me trouble without the proper scan tool. he recommended that i most likely could do the front brakes myself, but should go to a mechanic for the rears. i looked into it further, he was right and saved me hundreds of dollars. he even recommended a knowledgable mechanic down the road at butler tire. they were great and now im back on the road. very helpful, very knowledgeable, great customer service! will definitely be coming back and ask for Chris!

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
