I bought a 2017 GMC Sierra from Car Town West two Years ago this August. It had 136,000 miles on it at the time l purchased it. I bought it as is. It listed all the amenities on it when they advertised it. It was advertised with 4w drive and many other options. I bought it.
At the time l bought it l didn't try out the 4W drive. I just assumed that if they listed it having 4W drive then l assumed it was in full working condition. The 4W drive did not work when l bought it. The transfer case was out at the time that l purchased it, yet it was advertised as having 4W drive. When l purchased it l also purchased the extended warranty. I paid $25,500.00 for the truck. There were several other options on the truck that were not working. I had no problem with them not working because l knew it was a used truck. They were minor options that weren't really important and they were not listed in the sale of the truck, so it wasn't a big deal. But having 4W drive raised the price of the vehicle probably at least a couple thousand to or three thousand dollars. I have talked to several Car Dealerships and they informed Me that the truck should never have been having 4W drive if the 4W drive was inoperable, Yet that didn't stop Car Town West from selling this truck having the option of 4W drive. I didn't think to check to see if the 4W drive worked b4 purchasing the truck. I just took for granted that if they advertised it as having 4W drive then it must have been working at the time of the sale. It wasn't until l started having problems with the truck and put it in the shop at Jim Taylor GMC in Monroe that l was informed that the transfer case was not working. Up until then l had no use for the 4W drive so when l purchased the truck l was unaware that the 4W drive was not working. When l put it into the shop they found all kinds of problems with the truck. They found that the oil pan gasket was leaking and the transmission was not working right. These are items l believe should have been caught b4 the truck was ever sold. So, the extended warranty company paid to put in a new transmission, a used transfer case, and a new oil pan gasket. So, the extended warranty company put out around $11,000.00 dollars on these repairs. Since then lt has been back in the shop for several other things costing the Warranty Company at least another $5,000.00 ! During this time l talked to several Used and New Car dealerships about what they do with a ysed car or truck when they buy them from auctions. I was told that their mechanics go over them and do a thorough check of the vehicle b4 putting them on the lot. I asked them that if they purchased a truck from auction and the 4W drive was not working, and the oil pan gasket was leaking would they have caught it ? And all five or six of the dealerships informed Me that they would have caught those repairs and fixed them b4 ever putting them up for sale. Car Town did not do this, even though the Sales Manager informed Me that they go over all the vehicles that they purchase at auction b4 putting them on the lot to be sold. So, when l asked Him if one of their vehicles oil pain gaskets would have been leaking would they have caught it and replaced it, and if the 4W drive was not functioning would they have caught that ? Hus reply was yes. So l asked Him how He could have listed a truck having 4W drive, and selling it with that option and not even checking to see if it was functioning ? He said, We would have. I told Him, but Yiu didn't ! The 4W drive was not functioning at the time You advertised the truck having the option of 4W drive when it didn't !
The truck has been in the shop in the past two years for 8 weeks over this period of time. So, l have thirteen months remaining on this warranty with about 6 or 7 thousand dollars remaining to cover this 13 months.
I wrote all this with the hopes of warning people not to purchase a vehicle from Cartown Auto Sales.

They don't check their vehicles before they sell them and if an issue arrives after paperwork has been completed they won't help you keep a vehicle until the part can be fixed. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS DEALERSHIP!!!
