Awful experience! They don’t even deserve 1 star.
I have had the interlock in for 3 days and I have had 3 faulty handhelds put in since. The car has went into lock down numerous times due to equipment issues and I’ve spent $100 in Lyft rides to get to and from the service center today alone. I had to 3way call the roadside assistance and Intoxalock to set up my own account because they never did and roadside assistance didn’t have me as a paid customer. They sent the tow truck to the wrong address and never called my service center to let them know the car is being towed there. They signed me up and then charged my account $112 never disclosed to me for “shipping”. Once you have an account, the number sends you to an automated system unless you know EXACTLY what numbers to press to finally get a live person.
DO NOT use this company! You will regret it!!!!
9+ calls and 6 hours later, I’m waiting on my Lyft to take me back home while my car stays at the service center again!
My service center informed me that I’m the 5th faulty equipment this week!!!
Their only solution was to not charge me for the lockout fees when the lockouts have all been caused by their faulty equipment!!
I repeat, DO NOT go with this company!!!
USE ANY OTHER COMPANY!

Super cool and savvy staff and mechanics, Stacie was able to get check engine light off. Smooth riding 2003 Astro Van after getting new brakes and fuel intake manifold. After picking up van, weeks later discovered some rodent nest chewing fuel injector cables. Not only solving a riddle, but using the warranty on fuel intake manifold to swap out brand new again. Thanks Stacie and Co, most reliable mechanic aside from Joe Bob from down the street.
Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.

What happens if I fail a breath test on my ignition interlock device?
If you fail a breath test, your vehicle will not start, and the device will log the event. Depending on your state’s regulations, multiple failed tests may trigger additional penalties, such as lockouts or reporting to your monitoring authority. Intoxalock devices allow you to retest after a short wait if alcohol is no longer detected. Always follow your state’s guidelines to remain compliant.
Can I install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle I don’t own?
