    Called the number in the reservation to confirm a car was available before taking an uber to pick up the car. The person assured me a car was available and my reservation was confirmed. I arrived only to be told no cars were available. I asked why I was told a car was available. She said the national office did not know what cars the local office had available or ones that were out of service. Very disappointing the website and customer service team were not on the same page as the local office.

    If I could give this place 0 stars, trust me, WE WOULD!! The customer service experience left me wondering when compassion and genuine care for safety are priority. Guess it happens after the shutting door from Asst. Manager Cale Stine during our visit at the 1102 E. College Street Lake Charles, LA 70607. I cannot make this up. This manager came to the office, dressed not in uniform, after a conversation we had with the 2-week new employee about the hazardous (mechanical issue - perhaps alignment or tires not bolted well) Wagoneer we rented in Austin that National roadside said we could swap here. When we arrived, we spoke passionately (never disrespectful) to the 2-week new employee about our 5-hour conversations with National about swapping a call. Her exact words “sorry but I’m 2 weeks in and my boss told me to tell people we have no cars in the lot as the ones we have are reserved for Sunday. The ones we have are dirty and I’m the only one here to manage this”. I told her, hey no worries, we will clean then and move on as the safety of my family is important. I asked her to call her manager so we may please our case since this “system” does not have us in their for that “swap”. He heard our story and at the end of us saying ‘we hope you have compassionto help us, he says I have nothing for you. Followed with what his employee said is correct, no cars on lot to give out. That’s when my gear shifted. As an aunt of 2 kiddos, who are traveling with my fiancée and I, I said you can’t just give us the white Tahoe or exact same Wagoneer to us and then find another for your Sunday reservation? That smug look on his face when he told me, no we can’t. I asked why. He then said because we cursed at his employee and he won’t have it. OUR EYES WIDENED. WHAT?! Are you kidding me? We both apologized for the ill representation that may have been given but that is not what happened. She was in the back office and I went over to the side encouraging her to come speak with us as that in fact was not what happened and asked her why she felt the need to lie to him about our initial interaction. The mommy bear came out when he said yeah well, we won’t help you with a car because that’s the other National office site problem, not ours to “fix”. I’m sorry but what?! I told him he is a representation of National and this is your issue as well to help resolve. He said no, I’m not them, I only work for National. Can you imagine our disbelief and lack of trust with National now. Incredible. Not one system talks to another. NOT ONE employee made an attempt to keep our family safe in a new car for our road trip (TX to AL). This is horrible. Prayers that we make it to our destination, and I guess back home. Don’t rent your car from National and PLEASE never rent one from Lake Charles!
