The kiosk wasn’t working, so an attendant approached me with a tablet and persuaded me to purchase the most expensive wash package, promising a discount. However, when it came time to receive the receipt, he quickly tapped “no” and walked off, which I found suspicious. Sure enough, after checking my credit card, there was no discount applied. When I brought it up to him, he claimed he would contact the manager. The manager supposedly was going to call me to issue a refund, but I never received any follow-up – and honestly, I don’t expect to. While I was speaking with the attendant, another customer in the lobby was also complaining about their experience, which tells me this isn’t an isolated incident. As for the wash itself, it was very underwhelming. The car wasn’t even very dirty, but the wash failed to remove basic grime like bird droppings and bug splatter. It also left noticeable streaks. It seemed like I was given the basic package instead of the premium one I paid for. Unlike Tidal Wave, Zips doesn’t do any sort of manual prewash, which likely contributes to the poor results. I spent $30 on a wash that barely made a difference. From now on, I’ll stick with Tidal Wave – they provide a much more thorough clean, have competent staff, and working equipment. Zips just isn’t worth the money.
