- RBRuss BlantonAug 22, 20255.0Mike, the store manager, went above and beyond this morning with a small issue I had with my Honda CRV. The part I was needing had to be cross-referenced which Mike did patiently and professionally. The part in need was a push rivet to hold the windshield washer reservoir in place. While at the store I attempted to install the push rivet and lost the first of 2 rivets in the package. The second attempt was also unsuccessful as the push was engaged, however the rivet was not. Mike opened up the engaged push rivet, installed successfully and found the one I dropped in the engine compartment. Thanks Mike job very well done! I have always used Advance Auto Parts because they almost always have the part I'm needing in stock or can order it, and their service is always top notch. Thanks again Mike.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
