- JSJesse SteinkeFeb 14, 20265.0Great assistance for an unusual emergency in early October 2025. Had a 2014 Jeep with Ram 1500 brakes on it and lost a caliper bolt. I wish I would had written down the name of the person who helped me. He helped me figure out which bolt I needed even through Ram changed from imperial bolts to metric somewhere along the line. Felt bad that he spent like 45 minutes with me to figure out a $5 part, so I stocked up on oil and coolant. Granted it makes for a long term customer who looks at Advance Auto parts before their competitors for parts.

Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
