- CSCheryl ShowaltersFeb 16, 20261.0I was in there Friday February 13th 2026. I had to have my car jumped at Sam's Club. So I went straight to Advanced Auto in Scottsville because that is where we used to do our business. Not anymore. Tyler the new manager came out and checked my battery and said it was fine but something was pulling the power. So I took it home and made an appointment at the dealership in BG where I always take it for repairs and the such. It had to be towed. 176.00. They said they tested it and the battery is bad and they also tested it to see if anything was pulling power from the battery. Nothing was. So it is costing me double for a battery now plus the tow bill. We will have to find another place to start getting parts now.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
