- DHDan HamanJul 31, 20175.0Bought a remanufactured alternator thru Advance Auto Parts website (great deal with promo code and in store pick up) on Friday. Site had me pick up part at Car Quest (nearest store)...apparently AAP recently purchased Car Quest. Didn't get a chance to install until Sunday, and found out that the alternator didn't have its bushings reset (probably not the right terms), so I couldn't get it to fit. Called the number on the receipt, they said they had another that had the bushings reset, so I headed out to exchange. Turns out Car Quest is closed on Sundays and the number from the receipt is forwarded to a nearby AAP. Long story, short(ish), they were willing to exchange parts rather than make me wait until Monday to go back to Car Quest. I appreciate the customer service provided by some great guys at AAP. Thanks again!

Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
