This location is, without question, the worse rental location I have ever been so unfortunate to use. This place does NOT meet any of National Car Rentals vaunted standards. Let me assume to say that you have been on a ship for two weeks and you have arrived in Reykjavik. After the usual nonsense disembarking, you go to get your car in the city at the BSI Bus terminal-where National is located. After the paperwork, the very polite young lady tells you that you must drag your: wife, kids, and bags across a bus parking lot-where very rude and nasty bus drivers park their buses. There is NO pick up or drop off location for you and your family at this location. So now you are dragging your bags a couple of hundred feet to their "parking lot". National, says-"Rent from us and choose your car! In this place this promise is not kept. The parking lot, is a field of broken asphalt. No parking spot spaces painted. No exit signs when you leave-it took me five minutes of driving from one end of the thing to the other-turning the car around several times in a crowded, dirty, uneven, dangerous parking lot. You must search for the car using the license plate=sound like fun! You betcha. After the injury...the insults begin. You are informed that if you do not buy their insurance, they will charge your credit card for the damage and you submit your own claim. I took 22 pictures of the junk they rented me at first. The car was covered with dings, and dents. Furthermore, the car isn't washed-it is dirty. Why? Because of the parking lot they use. If a person were determined, you could peel out in this lot and send rocks and dirt flying in all directions including at their cars. Gosh-could this be why the cars are such a mess? I used my spit, where it was necessary, to take the pics so the previous damage was revealed. Oh, you seniors out there...don't dream of sparing your wife by leaving her at the terminal, and picking her up. There is a gang of nasty bus drivers who will try to chase you out. Boy was he surprised. Reviews of this location reveal that customers have complained about getting ripped off with the "You pay us now and submit your own insurance claim" song and dance. I will say that the young lady I dealt at the desk with was polite and attentive. With buses everywhere, and confused, tired, people dragging their bags around-an accident is immanent.
