EDIT: Received a phone call today 6/18/24 from an Intoxalock supervisor about my concerns. After speaking with the supervisor, we came to an agreement to make my experience a better one. Intoxalock went out of their way to make things right with me, and I'm very satisfied with the outcome of this issue. Intoxalock device calibrated/updated on Tuesday, 6/11/24 and began killing my battery immediately afterwards (confirmed by other users in internet reviews about Intoxalock) and began boiling the acid in the battery, which caused a "rotten egg" smell that I was smelling on my drive home. I didn't realize it was the battery I was smelling until Saturday when the vehicle wouldn't start. AutoZone tested the battery and determined that the battery was bad. Never had any issues with the battery before the calibration/update. Replaced the battery with a new one on Saturday afternoon 6/15/24, and so far, as of today, two days later on 6/17/24, I'm not seeing or smelling any further issues. Since Intoxalock KNOWS this is an issue, why isn't anything bein done about it??? With the fees we have to pay to have an Intoxalock device, this thing should b FLAWLESS!!!

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle.
